PNC SmartAccess® Prepaid Visa® Card Offers Alternative To Consumers Without Bank Accounts

PITTSBURGH , July 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- PNC Bank today announced the launch of the SmartAccess Prepaid Visa Card, a reloadable prepaid card designed to help consumers manage their money even if they do not maintain a traditional bank account.

Starting this week, the card became available in all 2,900 PNC branches. PNC ran a pilot program in select regions this spring and summer. Lawrence Wilbon , executive director of the Presbyterian Community Center in Louisville, Ky. , which was among the pilot cities, said his staff and clients signed up to use the card because of the ability to direct deposit their paychecks and the simplicity of the $5 monthly fee.
